We opened our doors to the public as Cafe Zesta on December 10th 2007.

Cafe Zesta is owned by Diane Washburn and Mark Young, the people who brought you Anjou, an organic juice bar. Their passion for high quality organic products which help support the local economy while also being sustainable has been a driving positive influence.

We are a Zero Waste business and compost our biproducts with EcoCycle. We use only compostable paper and plastic goods from EcoProducts. All of our produce is organically grown and purchased locally whenever possible. During the summer months we buy from local farmers at the Boulder Farmer's Market. Our coffee is organically grown fairtrade coffee provided by local coffee roasters Coffee Jones and for our chai is from Bhakti Chai who use all organic ingredients as well as fresh pressed ginger.

Head chef Maria Cooper creates inspired world cuisine out and delicious gluten free baked goods. She also provides an enthusiasm for style and a unique outlook on food. She has gotten quite the following of devotees to her wonderful cooking style.

General Manager Maggie Gourlay keeps the shop running and also ensures there are a fair number of allergen-free offerings as well as being as kid friendly as possible. Although this mother of two has her trainings in video game creation and being a geek, she also is quite passionate about organics and healthy eating.

Assistant Manager Eric Isbell provides a pleasant disposition and an efficient hand around both the cafe and the kitchen. While he isn't busy making or serving food, soups or espresso drinks, Eric makes unique and spooky music in Haunted Sound Laboratory and in local music legends blackcell.

Head Barista Michael Thelen has a great energy and a wonderful attitude which spills over onto everyone at the cafe. While he isn't helping us here, he is an excellent and in-demand massage therapist.
